Smooth Transition at NEC: Col. Buryomunda Hands Over to Lt. Col. Hatangimana.
On July 14, 2025, the Deputy Managing Director of the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC), Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Innocent Oula, presided over a significant hand/takeover ceremony at NEC Headquarters in Bugolobi, Kampala.
Col. Elvis Buryomunda, who had been serving as the Military Assistant to the Managing Director, formally handed over to Lt. Col. Benon Hatangimana, marking a seamless transition.
As Col. Buryomunda prepares to take on his new role as Head of Counter Intelligence under Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS), Gen. Oula commended him for his outstanding service and wished him well in his new assignment.
Gen. Oula expressed satisfaction that Col. Buryomunda would remain a point of contact for NEC within DIS, ensuring continued collaboration.
Welcoming Lt. Col. Hatangimana to the NEC family, Gen. Oula encouraged him to align his work with the Managing Director’s vision and contribute to achieving NEC’s goals.
Gen. Oula emphasized the importance of teamwork and urged Lt. Col. Hatangimana to work closely with the NEC team.
During the ceremony, Col. Buryomunda presented a comprehensive handover report, highlighting NEC’s mandate as the commercial arm of the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs/Uganda People’s Defence Forces. He outlined the Corporation’s Subsidiaries and Joint Ventures, underscoring the critical role of the Military Assistant in supporting the Managing Director and coordinating NEC’s activities.
Col. Buryomunda expressed gratitude to the staff for their excellent cooperation during his tenure.
Lt. Col. Hatangimana, in his acceptance speech, pledged to work collaboratively as a team player, consulting where necessary.
He thanked the army leadership for entrusting him with this responsibility and expressed his commitment to not only work but to excel in his new role.
The ceremony was attended by senior NEC officials, marking an important milestone in the Corporation’s continued growth and success.
