NEC Hosts Mali War College Delegation, Showcases Model for Self-reliant National Development.

The National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Mali War College (Ecole de Guerre du Mali) to its Headquarters in Bugolobi, in a visit that underscored deepening military and strategic cooperation between Uganda and Mali.

Representing the Managing Director, NEC, the Deputy MD, Maj. Gen. Innocent Oula, received the delegation and outlined the Corporation’s role and mandate within the UPDF/Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs (MoDVA), as well as its contribution to national strategic priorities including industrialization, technology, and agriculture.

On behalf of the Deputy Managing Director, Brig. Gen. Moses Mwesigwa delivered a detailed presentation offering the visiting officers insight into how NEC has translated its mandate into tangible industrial and agricultural capacity for the country.

Leading the delegation, Brig. Gen. Mousa Yoro Kante thanked NEC for the warm reception, describing the visit as a milestone in the delegation’s engagement with Uganda’s development model. He observed that the visit offered valuable lessons on how a nation can harness its own resources and internal capacity to drive development.

Brig. Gen. Kante traced the origins of the growing military and strategic partnership between Uganda and Mali to 2022, when His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, drew on his longstanding Pan-Africanist vision to initiate cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces. He noted that this partnership has since matured into concrete outcomes, including military course exchange programmes, and commended the Government of Uganda for strategically positioning NEC as a vehicle for national development.
