The Minister of State for Luwero Triangle, Hon Alice K.Kaboyo again commissioned another civilian veteran’s house for Peter Wanku Mpiima.

Yesterday  14th November 2023, the Minister of State for Luwero Triangle, Hon Alice K.Kaboyo again commissioned another civilian veteran’s house for Peter Wanku Mpiima a.k.a Kazimoto who was brutally killed on 22nd January 1973 alongside Martin Mwesigwa a.k.a Black by former President of Uganda, Idd Amin’s soldiers in the struggle to liberate his motherland in Kodiri Parish, Kachumo Sub-county, Budaka District.

Mr Waku Martin and Mr Mwesigwa were shot dead at the home of Mr Maumbe Mukhwana Jack, house No. 49 Maluku Housing Estate in Mbale where President Museveni escaped narrowly.

 The house was handed to his son Paul Waku a.k.a Kazimoto.

The Minister while handing over the house to the son, informed him that it was in recognition of their contribution during the 1973 liberation struggle.

The house is one of the houses constructed and implemented by the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) through its construction  Subsidiary, NEC Construction, Works and Engineering Ltd (NEC Works).

Hon Kaboyo thanked the government for finding resources to construct civilian veterans’ residential houses in different parts of the country.

Hon Kaboyo thanked the people of Budaka for supporting the NRA/M revolution that removed the dictatorship and asked them to continue supporting government programmes.

Hon Kaboyo thanked NEC for handing over quality work in time at rather a low cost and promised to continue working with NEC on other projects.

The Minister informed the people that, unlike other companies that are involved in red tape and corruption, NEC does its work diligently and upfront before the clients get the money.

On his part, Eng Brian Buhanda who represented Lt Gen James Mugira, the Managing Director, NEC informed the Minister that the MD-NEC could not make it because of other state duties but was ably represented.

Eng Buhanda thanked the Minister for the trust and confidence put in NEC to expose their potential in construction works.

Eng Buhanda further informed the Minister that NEC fully understands the strategic significance of such projects and the role played by Civilian Veterans in the struggle to liberate this country and therefore can not let her down.

Eng Buhanda informed the Minister that the construction of the house was done in a record period of 3 months.

Eng Buhanda further thanked the clients and the local community for the support rendered to NEC during the construction of the house.

Given the quality and timely execution of works, Eng Buhanda asked the Minister to always consider NEC for more work.
