HON LT GEN JAMES MUGIRA FLAGS OFF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A 500KW SOLAR POWER PLANT AT LUWERO INDUSTRIES LTD.

On 30th July 21, Hon Lt Gen James Mugira; the Managing Director-National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) flagged off the construction of a 500kwp Solar Plant at Luwero Industries, Nakasongola.
In his remarks, Gen Mugira observed  that for any country to develop, it needs to industrialise and that historically, no country in the world has developed without Defence Industries adding that those Industries like Luwero Industries cannot operate without stable, reliable and sufficient power supply.
He noted that solar energy was a cheap, inexhaustible environmentally clean resource and expressed optimism that  the Solar project will provide a cost effective reliable solution.
On his part Maj Gen Sabiiti Muzeyi; General  Manager-Luwero Industries said that with  the installation of the solar power plant significant reduction on power bills are expected and the company will save more than 50% of the power bills.
Unstable and unreliable power has been a serious challenge with power disruptions interfering with production processes and affecting sensitive equipment among others.
Construction of the Plant is expected to take three months with Commissioning slated for November 2021.
