CDF Gen David Muhoozi Commissions 501 Brigade Headquarters in Palaro.

On 13th February, 2021 CDF Gen David Muhoozi commissioned 501 Brigade Headquarters in palaro constructed by NEC Construction, Works and Engineering Ltd,  a subsidiary of National Enterprise Corporation. He was accompanied by the Chief of Staff-Uganda People’s Defence Forces-Maj Gen Leopold Kyanda and welcomed by Lt Gen James Mugira the Managing Director National Enterprise Corporation.
Gen Muhoozi noted that the commissioning of the new Brigade Headquarters was yet another opportunity having commissioned other 4 projects in the recent past. The four include: Ruhengyere Infrastructure development works, Kalama AWTS, 333 and 303 Brigade Headquarters.
Gen Muhoozi congratulated 4th Div for acquiring a decent home.
He informed the officers that the construction of such facilities is informed of two priorities; working and training environment. He told the officers that the army leadership met and prioritized on those two critical issues considering the resource envelope and decided to build a decent office, Commander’s house, storage facilities as start up facilities.
He said that he was aware that there is a huge deficit of housing but promised to start structures using UPDF Engineers and NEC but also partnering with private sector because of limited resources but with heavy input from UPDF.
He congratulated 501 Brigade but urged the leadership to maintain the structures so that they can last longer.
He advised them to always go through the chief of staff to push for critical requirements such as water and electricity.
On his part, Lt Gen James Mugira thanked the CDF for squeezing time out of his busy schedule to come and officiate on the commissioning of 501 Brigade Headquarters.
He informed the CDF and officers that 501 Brigade Headquarters was the 5th out of the 7projects undertaken by NEC to be commissioned utilizing the personnel of UPDF Engineers Brigade.
He thanked the MoDVA/UPDF for giving NEC yet another opportunity to carry out these Infrastructure Works of the UPDF.
He thanked the 4th Div leadership for the support they rendered by putting their personnel at NEC’s disposal to execute the Works.
He thanked the team from NEC led by his Deputy Managing Director Hon Maj Gen Innocent Oula and Eng Brian Buhanda that were able to supervise and execute the Project.
He thanked the UPDF Engineers Brigade for the Engineers they put at NEC’s disposal to do quality work.
He requested the End Users as usual to maintain the structures and put aside some resources for maintenance.
He looked forward to receiving more Works from MoDVA.
The Ag Commandant UPDF Engineers Brigade, Brig Bekunda Besigye ; 4th Div 1/2Col Mbuusi, Eng Brian Buhanda-General Manager-NEC Construction Works and Engineering Ltd,
among others,  attended the function.
